About Us

Narrogin Repertory Club was established in Narrogin in 1920, and has been performing ever since. Originally based in the Town Hall, the Club purchased the former Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall in the 1980s, and transformed it into the current theatre. The Thornton Theatre is names after James 'Jimmy' Thornton, who was an instrumental figure in the Club through the mid-20th century.

The Club has performed a range of productions for audiences for over 100 years, from musicals to comedies, dramas to pantomimes. Productions are performed in the Thornton Theatre, Town Hall, and even outdoors on occasion.

Extensive projects on the Thornton Theatre include:

2010: With a seating capacity of 30 people, the theatre underwent an expansion to increase its capacity to 69 seats.

2021: The ablution block was upgraded for accessibility purposes, increasing the size of the toilets and providing shelter over the outdoor area.

2022: Accessible ramp and new step railings installed to increase the theatre's accessibility for patrons and members.

2022: A major technology upgrade, installing a project and projector screen (for films), stage camera, monitors, new speakers for enhanced SFX and upgraded dimming lights.

2025: Another major technology upgrade, with the installation of new state-of-the-art LED stage lighting and a new electronic lighting board.

The Club's biggest association supporter is Arts Narrogin, who assist greatly with ticketing and marketing for productions. The Club encourages local businesses to sponsor productions by donating funds, items, or in-kind support, which assists in the Club's capacity to provide theatrical entertainment for the community.

All sponsors are displayed in the production program.
